(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Ezdan Holding Group has been chosen as "the best Qatari company for diversified investments" at an event held by the Forbes magazine.
Ezdan Holding Group CEO Ali al-Obaidli received the award in Dubai recently, where top companies in the Arab world were honoured by the Forbes magazine.
Ezdan said the holding group has been rated annually by the magazine based on four essential criteria such as the volume of sales, profits, assets and market value for 2014.
The selection of the top Arab companies followed a "profound and comprehensive" analysis of some 1,245 traded companies in the Arab exchange markets, Ezdan said.
The market value of the listed Qatari companies amounted to $162.2bn, with $37.5bn in revenues, $12.2bn net profits, and $370.4bn assets.
Commenting on the Ezdan Holding Group's "privileged" position among top Arab companies; Obaidli praised the role played by the country and the support provided by its wise leadership in strengthening the national economy.
He said Ezdan recently managed to successfully diversify its investments with the aim of minimising risks and enhancing the company's financial status. Among Ezdan's recent achievements was the announcement on the opening of the Al Wukair Mall, which will cater to the rapidly developing Al Wakrah and Al Wukair areas.
On the event al-Obaidli said, "The Forbes honour clearly reflects the fact that we have done well since our becoming a holding company some three years ago. We have been honoured for our success in diversifying our investments."
Al-Obaidli said Ezdan would remain focused on enhancing profitability and achieving stability, which will take it further to an advanced position of being among the most powerful companies in the world."
