Qatar- Ooredoo awards contract to MMG for facilities management

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) MMG, one of the Middle East's leading facility management companies, has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by Ooredoo to carry out maintenance of all its facilities for the next three years.

This is one of MMG's largest-ever contracts and one of the "most complex" maintenance contracts in Qatar to date.

Initially running for three years, the contract has a provision for an additional two year extension, and is worth over $20mn.

The contract was awarded after a competitive tender, and covers the "provision of hard services" to over 1,500 premises across Qatar.

Part of Al Faisal Holding, MMG is a leading player in the FM market in Qatar, and has established a strong reputation since it started business there in 2006. Through the tender stage, MMG was able to demonstrate that it has the resources, expertise and capability to undertake the management of all of Ooredoo's maintenance requirements.

The contract will operate all year round, on a 24x7 basis. Ooredoo facilities covered under the maintenance contract are varied and spread across the entire country, adding to the complexity of the contract. These include data centres, Satellite earth stations and a training centre; submarine cable landing stations; maritime radio stations; administration buildings; and customer care outlets.

MMG will be deploying in excess of 150 employees to work on this significant project - starting with a 90-day mobilisation phase to carry out asset capturing and condition reports, in addition to organising the management team.

International telecom major Ooredoo has a customer base of more than 100mn.

Speaking about the new contract, Youssef Abillama, MMG CEO, said, "MMG is delighted and honoured to have been awarded this contract by Ooredoo. It is MMG's biggest-ever contract across the whole region. We were awarded it after a very competitive tender, and this is testament to the high level of service we have become known for. We are looking forward to working with Ooredoo."
