Qatar- Minister forms team for fibre optic projects


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) HE Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning Sheikh Abdurrahman bin Khalifa al-Thani issued a ministerial decision to form a working group tasked with government fibre optic network projects.

The working group is headed by president of Public Works Authority Nasser Bin Ali al-Mawlawi, and has the following members: Director general of Ministry of the Interior's information systems Brigadier Saleh Khamis Al Kubaisi, chief executive officer (CEO) at Qatar National Broadband Network Ahmed Salman al-Sulaiti, head of the security department at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy Colonel Mohammed Majid al- ulaiti, director of Ministry of the Interior's security systems Major Jassim Abdulrahim al- Sayed, director of shared services at Kahramaa engineer Nasser Ali al-Mohannadi, and director of information systems at the Ministry of Transport Sultan al-Amari.

The decision stipulated that the working group should prepare an inventory of current and future projects for the implementation of fibre-optic networks, identify those concerned with their implementation, review the extent of integration between the concerned authorities, and develop policies, standards and the necessary programmes to unify efforts, reduce costs and secure the organisation and operation of fibre-optic networks.
