Qatargas holds Open Day for Qatari high school graduates

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Qatargas held an Open Day for high school Qatari graduates to recruit talented citizens for Qatargas Technical Preparation Programme (TPP).

The Open Day was part of 'Hayyakum', an ongoing recruitment-oriented outreach programme to ignite interest among people in pursuing careers with Qatargas in the LNG industry.

The event, at Qatargas Doha Head Office, attracted several Qatari graduates. Qatargas human resources, learning and development, operations and maintenance teams explained details of the programme and advantages and learning opportunities involved.

The three-year technical programme tailored for Qatargas' needs. It is a combination of two learning methods - offsite training (theoretical) at College of North Atlantic and practical, also known as work place learning (WPL) at Qatargas facilities (operations plants and maintenance workshops) in Ras Laffan. The programme is conducted with contribution from the departments' on-the-job training teams to prepare young Qataris for key technical positions in various divisions of Qatargas' Operations and Maintenance departments.

Hayyakum was launched in 2014 and each campaign targets Qatargas' national recruitment requirements by focusing on activities in partnership with various departments to attract students.

Investing in education and training of young Qataris is a key objective for Qatargas and is at the core of its corporate social responsibility strategies. Qatargas has strategies and programmes to attract, recruit and develop talented nationals. One of the initiatives is Outreach Programme which focuses on liaising with the education sector and includes reaching out to schools and universities, participating in career fairs and visiting schools. The company is committed to supporting Qatari graduates and trainees with regular coaching and counselling.
