Kuwait- Interior Ministry rejects claims visits to inmates not respected

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Ministry of Interior has denied social media claims that correctional facilities do not respect the rights of inmates to contact with visitors, describing these reports as "totally baseless".

"There is cooperation and coordination between the ministry's correctional facilities department and the Kuwait Lawyers Association (KLS) on these visits," said a ministry statement, and visitors can arrange any visit through a special office dedicated to the matter.

A vehicle has also been put in place that carries lawyers to their clients in prison, the statement added.

The correctional facilities department is committed to the application of the prison law adeptly and accurately, and its focus on the right of prisoners to contact their family members and lawyers.

The ministry went on to mention the role of social researchers in handling complaints, made by inmates, which always achieve the needs of the inmates on request.

Social media users were warned to practice accuracy and objectivity when releasing information as Kuwait is a nation of law and order, continued the statement. (end) hmd.sd
