OBG report to chart Oman's changing investment climate

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) An annual report by publishing firm Oxford Business Group (OBG) will chart Oman's efforts to attract investment for its planned mega projects against the backdrop of falling oil prices.

The Report: Oman 2016 will shine the spotlight on the sultanate's economic roadmaps - Vision 2020 and 2040 - which focus on driving growth in sectors seen as pivotal for the sultanate's long-term development such as transportation logistics and tourism. The publication will also consider what Oman can do to highlight the incentives available to investors which include a favourable tax and regulatory regime.

OBG's analysis of Oman's economy will be supported once again by contributions from global law firm Dentons (Oman) and professional services firm PwC Oman. Dentons will examine key facets of the sultanates legal framework developments while PwC will compile the tax chapter of the report a press release said on Tuesday.

OBG's country director for Oman Cate McCabe said the push under way in Oman to attract investment from international companies would be a focal point of the group's research. 'Dentons and PwC are both experts in their respective fields and their analyses of Oman's ease of doing business amongst other topics will make essential reading for investors considering the sultanate' she said

Paul Sheridan partner at Dentons said he looked forward to contributing to OBG's project which he added would once again provide the firm an opportunity to share  with OBG's readers its 30-plus years experience of operating in the sultanate.

His comments were echoed by Kenneth Macfarlane country senior partner PwC who described OBG's 2016 report as a 'useful tool' for businesses looking to increase their knowledge of Oman's investment environment. 'PwC is committed to helping businesses develop within Oman and the Middle East' he said. 'We are pleased to continue providing the Group with our insight into the sultanate's tax framework and also its broader business climate.'
