Greece optimistic on deal, but notes negotiations far from over

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) There are some 'tough measures' included in the reform proposals Greece has presented to its international creditors, a
government spokesman said Tuesday, indicating that a deal was close, dpa reported.

'Surely the climate has improved in Brussels...we are much closer [to
a deal] and we believe it is a matter of time until we agree,'
Gabriel Sakellaridis told Greek TV channel Antenna Tuesday morning.

Sakellaridis admitted that the Greek government made several
concessions on its earlier proposals, but also indicated that the
government gave 'a battle' to achieve a deal that would also protect
the financially vulnerable citizens.

'I hope the lenders will accept this, which it seems they will.'

He emphasized that the issue of value-added tax on Greek islands has
not yet closed.
