Oman- Gamer's Corner: The Best of E3

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Despite a glut of leaks there were still a string of surprises in store at last week's Electronic Entertainment Expo the annual gathering of the video game industry in Los Angeles.

Here's a list of the most exciting and appreciated games displayed at E3

Uncharted 4 (Naughty Dog)
Though the video game had already been revealed along with gameplay footage this year's E3 saw additional gameplay footage that focused on vehicle driving and showed off the game's cinematic-style gameplay and brilliant designing. Expected release: March 2016.

Edge of Nowhere (Insomniac)
With announcement of the consumer version of the Oculus Rift soon developers have gotten down to making VR games. Edge of Nowhere was one such game released at E3 that gained the admiration of several visitors by letting them climb an ice-laden mountain – all in VR. It comes out early 2016.

Final Fantasy VII Remake (Square Unix)
A next-gen remake of a previous classic this game is expected to be released within the next five years.

Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain (Konami)
As a sequel to Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zero MGS: The Phantom Pain has you up and running as a snake to hunt those who destroyed your forces in the aftermath of Ground Zero. Since Konami is pretty tight about giving out too much information not much is known as of now except that the game follows combat mechanics similar to that in Ground Zero. Release: September this year.

Mirror's Edge: Catalyst (EA)
A prequel to the PS3 hit Mirror's Edge Mirror's Edge: Catalyst tells the origin story of Faith in a parkour game with no levels no loading screens and no guns. It releases in February 2016.

Star Fox (Nintendo)
One of the biggest announcements by Nintendo was the news about a sixth installment to the popular Star Fox series. However Nintendo also made it clear that it had started the wave of its IP remakes to make its consoles popular again. The game will be out this December.

Hitman (IO Interactive)
One unexpected revelation was that of the new Hitman sequel. This time there will be a lot of emphasis on user-generated content - that is the game will focus not only on AI contacts but also on those made by thousands of users worldwide. It releases this December.

Mass Effect Andromeda (EA)
Though not much was shown of the newcomer to the Mass Effect series the short teaser was more than enough to make diehard fans at the conference cheer with utmost enthusiasm. It releases next year.

Need For Speed (EA)
Aimed to be the definitive game in the long-running series Need For Speed focuses on customisation and not just of the car but even of the game with options which allow you to choose the level of realism of driving. This is definitely a next-gen game to look out for when it comes out this November.

Horizon: Zero Dawn (Guerrilla Games)
With a new art style and a concept that combines a post-apocalyptic robot dominated world and the feel of a pre-historic world this game which releases in 2016 certainly is worth being excited about.

Doom (Bethesda)
A reboot of one of the best FPS classics - one that kickstarted the notion of E-Sports - was revealed by Bethesda with the help of a super impressive gameplay/reveal trailer. This one is slated for a Spring 2016 release.

Gears Of War 4 (Microsoft)
The long awaited sequel to one of Xbox's most successful IP was finally revealed. The expected release date (2016) did dampen the mood a bit though.

Fallout 4 (Bethesda)
Fallout 4 is possibly the game that stole the show and turned most heads. And though the trailer and bits of gameplay footage shown were heavily critiqued for the weak graphics the positive response outweighed the negative and made Fallout 4 one of the most popular games revealed at the games show this year. Release: This November.

For Honour (Ubisoft)
Ubisoft surprisingly toned down on its Assassin's Creed reveals and talked more of its new upcoming 4v4 medieval combat game that pits players against each other in a battle arena where they choose to play as either ninjas/samurais vikings or knights in a gore-laden sword-slashing multiplayer third-person fighter. Release date unknown.

The Last Guardian (Team ICO)
This game was reportedly in the works since 2007 and was originally set to be released way back in 2011 as a PlayStation exclusive. The Last Guardian has suffered several delays in the past but is now set for a 2016 release. The gameplay footage was so impressive that it actually makes the wait almost feel completely worth it.

Star Wars Battlefront (EA)
After talks about several upcoming games at E3 it seemed like EA was never going to talk about its most anticipated game Star Wars Battlefront. However at the end of their conference they did speak about it and even gave gamers a lengthy satisfying gameplay footage. The gameplay revealed that the game would not only have guns but also lightsabers and a way to use the force to your accord. Releases in November this year.
