Qatar- Road works in Al Khajfji Street from Wednesday

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The three-month long first phase of the developmental works of Al Khafji Street in the West Bay area will start on Wednesday.

The works include converting Jelaiha roundabout to a signal-controlled intersection as well as upgrading around 300 metres of the streets surrounding the roundabout, namely Al Khafji Street and the Arab League Street.

The developmental works also include widening the two streets from three to four lanes in each direction which will enhance capacity and allow smooth traffic flow to accommodate current and future traffic requirements of the area.

In a bid to reduce the impact of the works on road users, one lane will be closed while two lanes will remain open in each direction during the construction period.

The entrance and exit to the residential buildings and businesses in the area will also remain open. All phases of the development of Jelaiha roundabout and its surrounding streets are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2016.

This project is one of many projects implemented by Ashghal to improve the road networks across the country.

These improvements include converting several roundabouts to signal-controlled intersections and widening some streets to enhance their capacity.
