Qatar- Woqod to use QMIC's solutions for fleet logistics

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Woqod, which is specialised in distribution and marketing of petroleum and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) products in Qatar, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) for its 'Masarak' solution, to manage the fleet logistics and operations for Woqod.

Masarak is an intelligent end-to-end solution and suite of services, which was developed locally by QMIC in partnership with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban

Planning.

Masarak's iTraffic solution, which offers real-time traffic information about traffic conditions and congestion around the country, is available both on web and mobile applications, serving consumers, enterprises, and government organisations to help them enhance their operations and reduce their time spent in traffic.

In addition to Masarak, QMIC is focusing on other smart solutions such as Hawa'ak (environment monitoring system), and connected vehicles (V2V and V2X communication), the next generation of Road Safety, and Labeeb (Internet of Things platform).

As part of the agreement, Woqod will be using Masarak's iFleet solution for fleet logistics and telematics management. Woqod's vehicles will be equipped with Masarak's devices, to monitor driver behaviour including harsh acceleration, speeding and harsh braking, and distance travelled.

"The availability of such information, especially with the right incentives, could have a great positive effect on our drivers' behaviour and can help us play a role in increasing road safety by minimising accidents, as road safety is one of Woqod's priorities," said Ibrahim Jaham al-Kuwari, chief executive, Woqod.

As a national organisation, it's a great milestone for QMIC to partner with an important entity such as Woqod, and provide them with Masarak's platform for logistics and telematics services, said Dr Adnan Abu-Dayya, chief executive, QMIC.

QMIC will be providing Woqod with traffic information and driving behaviour monitoring, which in time will help minimise risks on the road in case drivers are not committed to traffic regulations," he added.
