Qatar- QTA partners with hotels for summer fest

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has partnered with 26 members of the hospitality industry to welcome visitors during the Qatar Summer Festival, which will be held from August 1 to 31.

Hotel partners have developed special packages for visitors during the festival. These include offers to pay for two nights and stay for three in hotels, and pay for five nights and stay for six in hotel apartments.

"The festival is part of QTA's strategy to grow and diversify its tourism offerings in partnership with the private sector, especially during traditionally off-peak periods," QTA chief marketing and promotions officer Rashed al-Qurese said in a press statement.

Selected establishments will also offer additional incentives and these cover a variety of options including 50% discounts on all food and beverage outlets within the hotel, free meals for children (up to three children per family), free breakfasts, late check-outs and a free shuttle service between some hotels. These offers are also available to residents booking for the same period.

Al-Qurese said that they are working closely with the private sector to ensure that Qatar is viewed as the preferred destination in the GCC.

"QTA's collaborations for the festival extend to our partners in the public and private sector to turn what is historically a lower-occupancy period into a colourful season full of cultural events and family-friendly entertainment," he said.

The festival is expected to build on the success of previous years in terms of size and the variety and scope of the family entertainment and fun activities on offer in the country.

The QTA official said that an expected highlight of the event is the Entertainment City, which features activities for children at the Doha Exhibition Centre including skate boarding, rock climbing, as well as crafts, games and stage shows.

Recent reports have shown that hotels in Qatar registered a 10% increase in occupancy during the first quarter of 2015 compared to the same period in 2014.

Al-Qurese said this is attributed in large part to a growing number of international conferences, exhibitions and sporting events.
