Qatar- Heya eyes more foreign designers for next edition

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Organisers of the Heya Arabian Fashion exhibition are planning to attract designers from the GCC as well as Europe, Asia, Africa and the US for the next edition set by the end of 2015.

This follows the successful staging of the seventh edition of the exhibition at the Doha Exhibition Centre. It is organised by Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) in co-operation with Design Creationz, a fashion-focused event management and marketing company (established in 2012) which is entirely run by women.

"This comes in line with our efforts to position the Heya exhibition on the
global fashion scene, bringing together designers and fashion lovers who share a strong common passion for Arabian design and women fashion," said Michelle Demenjon, operational general manager of Design Creationz.

She noted that they were able to organise what she described as the largest and most prominent Heya edition with the support of QTA.

Nearly 287 fashion designers from Qatar Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Oman participated through 339 stands, benefiting from the unique opportunity to tap into Qatar's market.

Participants of the exhibition gained new customers through the three social zones on the exhibition floor by Pierre Hermé Paris, W Café and Katara Halls to network and connect with other regional and international talent.

"This was the ideal platform to showcase my designs and gain a broad base of brand followers from around the world," said Sharifa al-Ghanim, Kuwaiti designer and patron of the growing 'Hamsa' brand. "As a designer it is important to be exposed to other concepts and I am looking forward to participating next time alongside global brands."

The event is considered as Qatar's leading women's fashion event.
Hamad al-Abdan, director of Exhibitions at QTA, said they consider exhibitions and conferences as one of the most important tools in developing the tourism industry.

QTA always strives to support the private sector to develop innovative platforms for art, industry and fashion, according to him.

"This showcase has been the perfect blend of tradition and luxury and we are grateful to our partners and the designers for highlighting the best of what the GCC has to offer to tourists and residents alike," he added.
