The Federal Reserve is monitoring economic data to determine the timing of its first interest rate hike. Any signs of improvement will surely fuel speculation of an early increase with some speculating two within the year is a real possibility. Meanwhile In China HSBC's manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) is projected to rise slightly to 49.5 in June from 49.2 the prior month indicating a contraction in sector activity. Investors will be waiting keenly for the report which comes amid concerns about the slowdown in the world's second largest economy. In company news Hayward Tyler (LON:HAYT) is reporting its end of year results after the alternative provider of utility services shocked the market in April with a profit warning. As a result the share price is down by around 45% over the past year and investors will be hoping there is no more bad news relating to weather energy prices and theft of its gas. The engineering firm is sprightly for a 200-year-old company and though sentiment on the stock has been dampened by the travails of the oil & gas sector which the company serves it is worth noting that only about 10% of its revenue comes from this quarter. Analysts have pencilled in a figure of £4.6mln for pre-tax profit on sales of £48mln and will be keeping a close eye on the health of the company's order book.
