Netanyahu: Israel rejects international "dictates"

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Israel firmly rejects any attempts to impose international "dictates" on it regarding the Palestinian-Israeli dispute, arguing that his position is necessary to guarantee Israel's security and achieve peace.

Quoted by Israel Radio, the right-wing leader hit out at international efforts to revive peace negotiations, telling the weekly cabinet meeting that the current peace proposals would not address Israel's security concerns, but were meant "to push us into indefensible borders while completely ignoring what will happen on the other side of the border." Netanyahu made the comments hours before a visit by France's Foreign Minister, Laurent Fabius, whose country is pushing for a UN resolution laying out parameters for peace talks. Fabius was due to hold separate talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders in his bid to restart the stalled peace process.
