(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Public angry protests took place in a number of Lebanese areas that included rallies and blocking roads in protest against spread of video clips showing prisoners of Roumieh Prison being tortured, official media reported Sunday.

Prisoners' families in northern Lebanese areas have blocked main roads in Akkar District, before being re-opened later by security forces, while dozens rallied at Tripoli's entrance square protesting the reported torturing, according to National News Agency (NNA).

In Beqaa Valley area, eastern Lebanon, a number of people protested at the center of Saadnayel village's main roads, blocking them entirely from both sides, while similar rallies took place in two districts of the Lebanese capital.

Meanwhile, Lebanese Minister of Justice Ashraf Rifi announced that "this crime will not pass without punishment and the two perpetrators of this crime were arrested," adding that he contacted the attorney general asking him to continue the investigation until the end.
