Arab League Welcomes French Initiative for Middle East Peace

(MENAFN- QNA) The Arab League welcomed the principles contained in the French initiative to advance the peace process in the Middle East and putting up a new UN Security Council draft resolution with an implementation mechanism to push forward the peace process.

In remarks following the meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee and the French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine affairs Mohamed Subaih said that all the parties welcome the French initiative, pointing that Europe is highly affected by the failure in achieving peace.

Arabs are not against the negotiations, said Subaih pointing that Arabs has been supporting the Palestinian side to enter the negotiations for over sixteen years.

He noted that the current period is witnessing significant efforts by the US, France, Denmark, New Zealand and the Arab Ministerial Committee in order end the Israeli occupation of Palestine, adding that the main hurdle now is in the Israeli government, which has given clear signals against a two-state solution.
