Judeh, French Counterpart Discuss Means to Revive Peace Process


(MENAFN- QNA) Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh discussed with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius, the Jordanian-French ties as well as efforts to revive peace talks between the Palestinians and the Israelis, apart from discussing other issues affecting the region.

Jordanian News Agency (Petra) said the talks covered the strategic partnership between the two countries, the continued cooperation and coordination on issues of common interest as well as the Palestinian issue.

Judeh reiterated Jordan's support to efforts aimed at re-launching peace negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as per the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the international terms of reference as well as the Arab Peace Initiative.

Judeh and Fabius also discussed international efforts to fight terrorism and extremism that threaten the whole world.

In this context, Judeh stressed the importance of continuing the fight against terrorism and terrorist organizations that are not related to Islam in any way.

Talks during the meeting also dealt with the latest developments in Iraq, Libya, Yemen and Syria as well as the need to find political solutions to these issues that guarantee security, stability and unity of these countries.

The French minister voiced his country's appreciation for Jordan's pivotal role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II to bring about security and stability in the region.
