Egypt's Suez Canal yield USD5.5b revenue in 2014


(MENAFN) The Egyptian Suez Canal yielded USD5.5 billion revenues last year, with government hoping to more than double this figure up to USD13 billion in less than ten years, an official statement read, Al Ahram Weekly reported.

The government is currently waiting for finalizing dredging work over the canal. Statements showed that 85 percent of the construction has already been completed and official inauguration is to take place on the 6th of August.

In the inauguration ceremony, President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi will be present, along with world leaders and some 200 celebrities to observe traffic flowing simultaneously north and south through the canal.
