(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) At least two gunmen were killed and 100kgs of explosives were seized by raids carried out by the army in North Sinai, a military spokesman said Saturday.
The army launched raids on several areas in Sheikh Zuweid and detected a hiding place for gunmen containing 25 beds, Brigadier General Mohammad Samir said.
One of the two gunmen tried to escape or commit suicide before he was killed, Samir noted.
The Egyptian army has been launching a military operation in North Sinai to hunt armed groups operating in the border governorate. (end)
