Syrian forces launched over 11,000 barrel bomb attacks last year
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Syrian Air Force has launched at least 21,173 air raids and dropped a total of 11,324 barrel bombs on residential areas since June 20, 2014.
These documented air attacks, including 8,849 jet fighter attacks, left 3,602 civilian deaths, including 831 children and 582 women the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Saturday.
In addition, 1,816 members of the oppositions groups were killed nearly 23,000 civilian people were wounded and dozens of thousands of others were displaced as a result of these attacks, SOHR added.
The Observatory reminded the UN Security Council of its responsibility for protecting civilian life and maintaining peace and security.
