Egyptian, French FMs discuss threat of terrorism


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shukri discussed with his French counterpart Laurent Fabius a gamut of issues relevant to fighting terrorism and bringing resolution to regional sticking points, an Egyptian spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.

The two ministers focused on such regional crises as the precarious political situation in Libya and illegal migration from Libya to Europe. They both expressed support for the efforts of UN envoy to Libya Bernardino Le?n to seek a political settlement and the formation of a national unity government in Libya, said the spokesperson ambassador Badr Abdul-Ati.

On the situation in Syria, the two ministers affirmed their stance regarding a political resolution to the conflict in that country. The two men discussed the crisis in Yemen and the Palestinian issue, noting that Fabius will meet later today with Arab ministerial committee in charge of seeking an end to Israeli occupation in Palestine. The committee is headed by Sameh and counts among its members foreign ministers from Palestine, Jordan, Morocco, and the Arab League secretary general Nabil Al-Araby.

Moreover, the two ministers reviewed the current negotiations between the group of six major western countries and Iran regarding the latter's nuclear file and also went over the situation in the African continent as a whole, emphasizing Egyptian and French support for stability and economic growth for the peoples of the large continent.
