Austria- Amok driver kills three and injures 34


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Three people have been killed and at least 34 injured after a man apparently deliberately drove his car at high speed into a crowd in the centre of Graz, the second-largest city in Austria, on Saturday.

Several of the injured people are critical condition, governor of Styria province Hermann Schuetzenhofer said in a press conference this afternoon.

The 26-year-old driver was caught by police. According to eye witnesses, the car was going at around 100 kilometres per hour.

The pedestrians were slammed against the windshield and knocked across the car.

Styria security chief Josef Klamminger said the driver was Austrian, and there was "no connection to fanaticism," and no terrorist background.

The man was thought be mentally ill.
