Islamist opposition groups occupy positions in outside Damascus


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Islamist opposition groups, who formed earlier Saturday Fath Army-South area, occupied some positions between Al-Quteitera and Western Ghouta, outside Damascus, Syria Mubasher news service said.

The groups occupied, among other posts, a UN position between Hadhar and Beit Jen following an attack on government forces killing and wounding many of them, said the news services.

The Fath Army-South Area consists mainly of Ahrar Al-Sham, Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Nusra Front, Fath Al-Sham alliance and Ahya' Al-Jehad brigade.

The groups issued a statement saying the Levant was in dire need of unity among armed groups in southern Syria, with the aim of defending the suppressed and releasing the prisoners. They called on people to join them.
