Qatar- Iftar tent witnesses huge turnout

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Large numbers of low-income workers turned up at an Iftar tent put up by a local charity near Al Attiyah Market in the Industrial Area yesterday, creating chaos. However, many people had to return disappointed as the tent, though huge, could take in only a limited number of hosts.

Mohamed Aslam, a Pakistani from Sargodha district of Punjab, said he went to the tent in the hope of breaking his fast but had to return dejected because of the rush. "I then went to a neighbouring store and bought a small bottle of water and snacks to break my fast," Aslam said.

Another worker who refused to give his name said he had to return without getting an Iftar meal packet at the tent due to a large crowd. "I went to a nearby mosque, had water and broke my fast."

Another one who also declined to give his name said he was lucky to have an Iftar. The meal pack had meat biryani, juice, dates, laban and water. "It was a sumptuous meal," he said.
