Qatar Warns of Continued Suffering of Children in Armed Conflict Areas

(MENAFN- QNA) The State of Qatar expressed Friday its concern at conditions of children in areas of conflict, particularly in Palestine and Syria.

This came in Qatar's statement during a Security Council session to discuss the UN Secretary-General's report on children and armed conflict areas.

The statement added that Qatar prioritized guaranteeing education to children in areas of conflict, as part of the country's commitment to education and its positive impact on children. This commitment was reflected in the Education Above All Foundation that aims to protect, support and promote the right to education in crisis, conflict and war zones.

The State of Qatar participated in the Oslo conference on school safety, which was held last May. Qatar endorsed the Oslo declaration resulting from the conference.

Acting Charge d'affaires at Qatar's delegation to the United Nations Yousef Sultan Laram said in the statement given during the Security Council's session that Qatar stresses its call for preventing attacks against schools and its use for military purposes.

Laram concluded the State of Qatar's statement that the world has realized that providing a safe environment for children is the building block for stability and security in the World.
