Summer Training Institute at John Jay College a Huge Success!

Forensic Training Academy at John Jay College and CONCEPT Professional Training are Celebrating the Success of Summer Training Institute

CONCEPT Professional Training and the Forensic Training Academy at John Jay College would love to thank all the participants who joined us in NYC for our Summer Training Institute earlier this month. “We’ve had an extremely positive response from all participants who attended the 5 days of mix-and-match workshops in forensic evaluation” says Dr. Patricia Zapf Director of the Forensic Training Academy and CONCEPT Professional Training.

Attendance was ideal with the participation of individuals from a variety of countries and states. Our internationally recognized experts Dr. Barry Rosenfeld Dr. Randy Otto Dr. Stephen Hart Dr. Kevin Douglas Dr. Laura Guy Dr. Randall Salekin and Dr. Ivan Kruh presented a series of workshops on forensic evaluation to participants from Australia Singapore Puerto Rico Norway Denmark and Canada as well as from VA TX FL DC OR IA CO PA MA CA MO MD WA NJ CT and NY!

Throughout the week participants were given the opportunity to build their knowledge skill set and expertise in forensic evaluation. Our experts took the time to listen answer questions and share some of their own personal experiences. “It was the perfect environment for professionals in the fields of forensic mental health law enforcement & corrections involved in forensic evaluation or wishing to add forensic evaluation to their clinical practice” said Zapf.
In the evenings social events facilitated interaction between experts and professionals as well as students in attendance. Our new friend Craig Shifrin expanded on his workshop on with Dr.Rosenfeld saying it was “wonderful training on malingering and testing. I give it an A plus.”

Not only was the Summer Training Institute a perfect way to expand professional development it was also an excellent opportunity to enjoy a great city at a great time of year and to meet new friends and colleagues with similar interests. We look forward to doing it again next year!
Later this year each of the workshops will be developed into online professional training programs to serve those who were unable to attend the in-person workshops.
