Kuwait dispatches second planeload of relief supplies to Iraq

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwait on Thursday dispatched the second planeload of relief supplies to Iraq, as part of a humanitarian bridge to relieve the Iraqi people.

Chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Society Dr. Hilal Al-Sayer said in a statement that the plane boarded 20 tons of medicines, adding that the society teams would distribute, next week, 15,000 food parcels to those in need in Iraq.

The society has managed to act rapidly to address the humanitarian conditions in Iraq due to His Highness Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's donation of USD 200 million.

The first planeload of supplies flew to Baghdad yesterday. It boarded 20 tons of medicines and medical supplies, destined for hospitals in the country.

Up to 200 tons of relief supplies will be sent to Iraq as part of the humanitarian bridge in the coming days.
