Arab League reiterates support to Yemeni President Hadi


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Arab League throws its full weight behind the legitimate government of Yemen's President Abd Rabboh Mansour Hadi, said Thursday a final statement issued by the League's consultative meeting here on the crisis in Yemen.

Attending the meeting were Yemeni Vice-President and Prime Minister Khaled Bahah and Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Al-Araby.

The final statement reiterated the League's endorsement of the decisions made at the Arab summit in Sharm El-Sheikh regarding the full support of all the military actions undertaken by the Arab coalition force, led by Saudi Arabia, in the defense of the legitimate government of Abd Rabboh Hadi in Yemen.

The statement also welcomed results of the Riyadh conference on the crisis in Yemen which took place in that city from May 17-19, seeking restoration of security and stability to Yemen.

The statement touted efforts of the UN to broker an agreement for peace in Yemen and called on the international community to address the humanitarian condition in that strife-ridden country.

Moreover, the statement expressed gratitude to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE for supporting UN efforts at alleviating the humanitarian situation in Yemen.

In that vein, the statement also stressed the need to assist Djibouti in hosting huge numbers of displaced Yemeni refugees.

Earlier, the consultative meeting had listened to Bahah explaining the dimensions of the crisis in his country. (pick up previous) mfm.ajs
