Turkish business leaders call for new government talks

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu met with Turkish business leaders on Wednesday, and expressed urgent concerns about the formation of a new government.

"As the leader of the first party, which has the responsibility of governing the country, we will carry out coalition talks sincerely," Turkey's Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told Turkish business leaders on Wednesday.

Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) President Rifat Hisarciklioglu said after a meeting with the prime minister: "A coalition picture, one which suggests conciliation, has emerged from the election. We believe that an early election would lead to a loss of time. So, we wish for the forming of a government within the current parliamentary arithmetic."

The country's leading business organizations, the Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD) and the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) also met with Davutoglu on Wednesday.

Davutoglu reportedly told the business leaders that economic policy, in an eventual government led by the Justice and Development (AK) Party, would be based on the Medium-Term Economic Plan published by the previous government.

Turkish business organizations held talks with the leaders of the four political parties that entered parliament in the June 7 election on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The board members of one of the country's top business organizations, the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) was at the headquarters of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).

"We wish for the urgent formation of a proper coalition government without consideration of an early election," MUSIAD head Nail Olpak told reporters after meeting HDP's co-chair Figen Yuksekdag.

"TUSIAD prefers the establishment of a permanent government which rapidly will pave the way for Turkey's democracy, its economy, its development and its investment environment," TUSIAD head Cansen Basaran-Symes told reporters after meeting the leaders of the four political parties that entered parliament in the election.
