Lebanon gets USD180m finance for water project

(MENAFN) Lebanon signed a finance agreement worth USD180 million with two Arab funds to facilitate water channeling to the southern part of the country, according to the Prime Minister, The Daily Star reported.

The fund will be dedicated to implement the second phase of the first part of the project, which involves channeling of water from the Litani River to the south for irrigation and drinking.

"The [waters] of the Litani River and lake could benefit a number of villages and cities, [including] an entire area of Lebanon which is still deprived of water today," the PM said.
