Jordan- Man accused in terror case receives 10 years behind bars

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) The civilian judges at the State Security Court, during a public hearing on Wednesday, sentenced a suspect to ten years in penal labour and a fine for trying to leave the Kingdom illegally.

The court deemed the suspect guilty of planning to leave Jordan to engage in terrorist activities, join overseas terrorists and also of possessing an automatic weapon.

It was proven in the court that the accused tried to leave the country unlawfully by sneaking across the border, holding an automatic firearm, before border guards asked him to stop.

He refused to comply with commands to stop before the guards overpowered him.
