US- Boeing, Airbus continue to drum up business at Le Bourget Air Show


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Rival aircraft-makers Boeing of the US and Airbus Industries of Europe continued to drum up billions of dollars in potential new business at the Le Bourget Air Show outside Paris on Wednesday, according to company statements on contracts and MoUs.

Airbus announced major deals in Latin America and Asia, with a MoU with Avianca of Brasil for 62 planes, A320neos, with a catalogue price of USD 106.2 million each, while the European company also signed an MoU for another 60 of the same aircraft type with Asiana.

Boeing, for its part, announced a potential deal worth USD 7.4 billion to sell "757-8 freighters" to Russian airline Volga-Dnepr Group. The MoU between the two companies if for 20 of the large, cargo planes.

Both Boeing and Airbus are now at well over USD 20 billion in sales and MoUs since the show opened last Sunday.

Sales two years ago by Airbus and Boeing at Le Bourget came just shy of USD 80 billion, with almost an even split between the two rivals.
