Netanyahu orders blocking Palestinian F48 TV channel

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered late Wednesday shutting down Palestine 1948 (F48) TV channel, recently launched by the Palestinian National Authority.

He instructed the competent authorities in Israel to probe the legality and funding sources of the station, and take the necessary administrative measures for blocking the channel, according to the website of the Israeli Hebrew daily Yedioth Ahronoth.

In January Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas announced the plan for launching the TV station which was scheduled to start airing on Thursday, June 18.

The station aims to address the Arab residents in the occupied Palestinians territories through featuring social, cultural and political content with and possible anti-Israel slant, a matter that seems to be of concern for Netanyahu.
