Qatar- QF hosts religious lectures, prayers


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Foundation (QF) will host a series of religious prayers and lectures as part of its month-long annual Ramadan programme. The activities, which will take place at QF's brand-new mosque located in the Education City, will be led by a selection of well-known and respected religious scholars.

Well-known scholars and Qur'an readers from around the region, such as Dr Omar Abdulkafi, Dr Aaidh al-Qarni, and Dr Tariq al-Hawas, will give educational religious lectures. The programme will be delivered in Arabic with English interpretation.

A number of well-known imams will lead the daily Taraweeh prayers. For the first three nights of Ramadan, Sheikh Abdullah Basfar will be responsible for delivering the prayers. Sheikh Mohamed al-Barrak will follow for the fourth and fifth nights, and then Sheikh Mohammed al-Ghurbani. On the tenth day, prayers will be delivered by Sheikh Turki al-Marri, followed by Sheikh Fahad al-Kandari on the 11th night. Sheikh Mohamed al-Ghayathin will then preside until the 13th night, followed by Sheikh Sheikh Mohamed al- Luhaidan on the 14th.

On the 15th night of Ramadan, Sheikh Abdullah al-Nemah will lead the Taraweeh prayers, followed by Shiekh Abdul Hadi Kanakeri on the 16th. Sheikh Saad al-Gahmdi will take over for one day, and Sheikh Abdullah al-Nemah will return until the 20th night of Ramadan. Sheikh Mohamed al-Qahtani will lead the Taraweeh prayers on the 21st and 22nd evenings, followed by Sheikh Mohamed al-Barrak until the 27th night. Sheikh Mohamed al-Qahtani will then lead the Taraweeh prayers up until the last evening of Ramadan. Finally, Sheikh Abdulwali al-Arakni and Sheikh Faleh al-Hajri will take the Qiyam prayers, and conclude the recitation of the holy Qur'an.

There will be a dedicated crèche facility open to young children of families who wish to attend the religious activities. Moreover, a regular bus service will be running, shuttling individuals to and from the mosque from various Education City locations.

The mosque has the capacity to hold 1,800 people in its indoor prayer
halls and outdoor courtyard.
