Qatar- ROTA's Ramadan project to benefit 200 families

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Over 100 local volunteers are preparing food parcels for Reach Out To Asia's (ROTA) Ramadan 2015 Project.

For the fourth consecutive year, ROTA is partnering with Occidental Petroleum Corporation (OXY Qatar) for the campaign, in which volunteers have been giving time year after year to ensure ROTA's work continues to reach the most needy during the holy month.

ROTA supports Qatar Foundation's (QF) mission to unlock the potential of youth leaders to build strong, sustainable communities.

Its Ramadan initiative aims to raise awareness of the value of volunteerism and community service and is in line with the Human and Social Development Pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030.

Volunteers joined forces at Qatar Table Tennis Association to prepare packages of bulk groceries for 200 families.

The parcels, including pasta, cooking oil, flour, lentils and milk powder, will be distributed over the coming days.

Essa Al Mannai, Executive Director, ROTA, said, "We are proud of our volunteers, who give time for the greater good of the community. We are delighted to see how eager they are to volunteer and help the needy.

"Ramadan is a unique opportunity through which we demonstrate the importance of voluntary work and its benefits for Qatari society."

Hessa Al Badr, a volunteer, said, "It is now that I realise the power of volunteering and its role in building a happy and connected society.

"The Ramadan 2015 Project is an opportunity to provide help to needy people and families and work with great people of all ages and nationalities. I am looking forward to volunteering with ROTA again."
