On Syria, HE Qatar's Ambassador to the United States said that the overthrow of the Assad regime is the first step towards a solution in Syria, pointing out that, given the reality on the ground, this is inevitable. HE Al-Kuwari added that the regime survival means the continuation of violence in this country, and that regime change is a prerequisite in national reconciliation.
Talking about Qatar's participation in the military operation in Yemen as part of a regional and international effort to restore stability and legitimacy to this country, HE the Ambassador said that the process enjoyed widespread support and is designed to stop foreign intervention in Yemen, rebuild the state and involve all people in the national dialogue, while terming the Geneva meeting as an important step in this direction.
On Qatari diplomacy at the political and humanitarian levels, HE Al-Kuwari pointed to Qatar mediation efforts in regional conflicts in the political field, and its mediation efforts to release foreign hostages held in the regional conflicts on compassionate grounds, stressing that Qatar's success attributed to its neutrality and effective diplomacy.
On the 2022 World Cup, HE the Ambassador said that the FIFA World Cup 2022 will be held in Qatar will be a great success, stressing that the recent issues concerning FIFA have nothing to do with the Qatari bid. He regretted the politicization of the debate to the point of accusing Qatar of corruption and misconduct without any concrete evidence, pointing out that Garcia's report cleared Qatar of any wrongdoings, and stressed that the State of Qatar fully cooperated with the investigation and expressed its readiness to continue this cooperation.
HE the Ambassador said the issue of foreign workers in Qatar was exaggerated by the media, noting to measures taken by the Ministry of Labor to promote labor reforms and legislation.
