Kuwait's trade surplus with Japan reaches USD616m in May

(MENAFN) Kuwait's trade surplus with Japan reached USD 616 million in May, marking an increase by 11.8 percent when compared to the same month last year, the Finance Ministry said, Kuwait News Agency reported.

The increase is also the first in seven months and is attributed to the much-improved exports, which in turn increased to USD693 million from the Gulf country to Japan. Imports from Japan, however, decreased by 22.9 percent to USD769 million.

In general, the Mideast trade surplus with Japan decreased by 42.1 percent, reaching USD4.2 billion in May, while the region's imports from Japan decreased by 6.3 percent.
