UAE- Verdict in 'Reem Island Ghost' case on June 29


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The verdict in the Reem Island murder case - dubbed the Reem Island Ghost case - will be pronounced on June 29. The defendant in the case, a 38-year-old Emirati woman, is accused of stabbing an American teacher to death in a popular Abu Dhabi mall and planting a home-made bomb at the door of an Egyptian-American doctor in December last year.

On Monday, the Federal Supreme Court, presided by Falah Al Hajiri, heard the defence plea which lasted more than hour. The defence lawyer called for "maximum level of leniency and mercy" before deciding on the case.

19-year-old 'joined Daesh'

Meanwhile, the state security prosecution charged a 19-year-old Emirati with joining the terror group Daesh. The defendant denied all charges levelled against him. The hearing was adjourned to June 29.
