(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) To take its services a step closer to its customers Oman Post is planning an SMS alert system.
Under the proposed system the recipient will receive an SMS once his or her registered post parcels or EMS arrives. 'To avail this facility the sender must include the recipient's mobile number on the covers and parcels' an official from Oman Post said. The project is in the planning stage.
Newer technologies aimed at better services are on the anvil. 'We are planning to increase the number of services and looking at strategic partnership with the private sector.'
Among the many new measures is the one in association with the Ministry of Housing.
'This service is part of a slew of services offered to citizens including the provision of residential agricultural and industrial land requests etc. The new service will help citizens while applying for visas loans and redeem commercial transactions by mail.'
Oman Post's e-Post service is another major initiative. 'This service has been launched to address the challenges faced by the postal sector due to the advent of the Internet as well as to expand our services across the sultanate' an official communique said. 'E-Post is a hybrid mail system which is an integration of traditional print and electronic communications system. It is a dynamic and more effective way of mailing where users can send and receive both electronic and traditional mail items. The aim of e-Post service is to help individuals businesses and the government to communicate seamlessly in a safe environment.
'The development of this service also means to increase the availability of mailboxes and include features like 'follow me' and electronic postal service within e-mail. Door-to-door service is another unique service that is being provided by Oman Post. The service helps ease day-to-day mail transactions in the country in a fast and safe way' it stated.
