(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A worker at a CBD coffee shop was allegedly conned on Sunday by a man posing as a government inspector.
The 'inspector' is said to have walked away with RO150 from the worker's wallet. 'The incident took place around 5.30pm. The man headed straight towards the kitchen and stopped midway to look at the municipal licence and instructions framed on the wall' said Alam A a shop assistant.
The worker from whom the conman took the money on the condition of anonymity said he took him to be an inspector. 'He created an impression of reading the documents. He was wearing a dishdasha and as is the practice with all Muscat Municipality and Ministry of Manpower inspectors headed straight towards the kitchen.'
The worker said the man then demanded to see his residence card. 'When I took out my wallet for the card the man took out RO150 and returned me the empty wallet. He did not even bother to see the residence card and left the place.'
A complaint has been filed at the Ruwi police station.
