Ramadhan begins in 13 Arab countries Thurs.


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Shortly after Kuwait and Saudi Arabia announced the holy month of Ramadhan will begin next Thursday, 11 other Arab countries made similar announcements on Tuesday night.

These are Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Egypt, Sudan and Tunisia.

In Brussels, the Muslim Executive of Belgium, the official body that represents Muslims' religious affairs, determined that the first day of Ramadhan falls on Thursday June 18.

Earlier this evening the moon-sighting committees of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia announced that Wednesday will be the last day of the lunar Hijri month of Sha'aban and therefore Ramadhan will begin on Thursday.
