UAE participates in OIC's extraordinary meeting on Yemen

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi of the Republic of Yemen stressed that Al-Houthi militias and their allies in Yemen and allies abroad want to use Yemen to destabilize the region and international peace and security.

Abdullah bin Mohammed Saeed Ghobash, Minister of State, led the UAE delegation to the meeting.

In his speech during the opening session of the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on Yemen in Jeddah today, the Yemeni President expressed his country's thanks to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, its leaders and peoples for their keenness and solidarity with the people of Yemen and support for its legitimacy, unity, security and stability, which is confirmed in their responding to the invitation of the Republic of Yemen to hold this extraordinary meeting on Yemen in this sacred land in these blessed days.

He stressed that the Riyadh conference came out with a historic document known as Riyadh Declaration, which became one of the basic and main references for any consultations and a clear and specific roadmap agreed upon by all.

President Hadi explained that the government delegation went to Geneva this week on the basis of clear and specific references represented by the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms, the outputs of the national dialogue, the Riyadh Conference, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2216.

''Here, I extend on behalf of the Yemeni people my sincere thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and all the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States and Arab and Islamic coalition which supported the Yemeni people in their ordeal. The Determination Storm Operation and the Renewal of Hope Operation were the most prominent titles of solidarity and support for our people and nation. Our Yemeni people will not forget that courageous, noble and sincere stand,'' he said as quoted by Saudi Press Agency.

The Yemeni President called on sisterly and friendly countries to provide more humanitarian aid to Yemen, saying 'We look forward to more attention and care for the relief and humanitarian aspects. The sufferings of our people are growing and growing, and they now concern us very much.'
