S. Korea, US Agree to Put More Pressure on North


(MENAFN- QNA) South Korea and the United States have agreed to up the pressure on Pyongyang and to work with members of the six-party talks to realize the denuclearization of the North.

In Washington, Minister of Foreign Affairs Yun Byung-se and US Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken agreed to respond firmly to North Korean provocations and threats based on the combined defense capabilities of the two countries, according to Korea's (KBS WORLD) website.

But the two sides also agreed to carry out a two-track approach by attempting to resume meaningful dialogue with the North through cooperation with other members of the six-party talks, excluding Pyongyang.

They will also work to reschedule President Park Geun-hye's visit to the United States for a mutually convenient and earliest possible time.

The two men are also said to have exchanged basic opinions on the South China Sea, which has been a point of contention between the United States and China.
