Qatar- Private companies conduct field tour of poultry project

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Representatives of a group of 34 private Qatari companies have conducted a field tour of the integrated poultry project, a part of the first agriculture and food complex.

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) Technical Committee for encouraging investment in the private sector, in co-operation with the Ministry of Environment (MoE), had organised the visit for the companies that submitted bids for a licence to establish the project.

The investors inspected the nature of the plot of land assigned for the project at a "very low rent", in addition to the necessary services and facilities for land reclamation.

Nasser Jarallah al-Marri, MEC's head of business development and investment promotion department and secretary of the committee, gave the visiting investors a comprehensive explanation about the project.

Al-Marri said he was confident about the transparent process of the project tender. Also, the period for submitting bids has been extended to July 30 based on the demands of many companies. This would be followed by evaluation and awarding of the project.

Sheikh Dr Faleh bin Nasser al-Thani, assistant undersecretary of agricultural affairs, livestock and fisheries at the MoE, said co-operation has been maintained with the MEC to encourage the private sector to take part in food security projects.

The ultimate target of the poultry project is to produce 40,000 tonnes of poultry meat and 7,500 tonnes of eggs annually. It is planned that the project would reach its maximum production capacity within 24 months of implementation.
