Saudi- Ambiguous policies

(MENAFN- Arab News) This is with reference to the article 'America's presidential campaign' (July 16) by Richard N. Haass. The US presidential race is always monitored with great interest across the world for obvious reasons. The upcoming presidential polls will be even more important due to the ongoing conflicts in the entire world particularly in the Middle East. The truth is the US is to be blamed for the entire mess. It has a moral responsibility to undo what it has done and clear the mess. Unfortunately that is not happening. After creating all these problems Washington wants to stay away from them. This is just outrageous. US President Barack Obama does not want his country to get embroiled in any foreign conflicts but then the US should once and for all completely stop meddling in the region's affairs and the US-Iran detente also tantamount to interference as all the regional powers are against any possible deal over Iran's nuclear program.

Their apprehensions are justified. The imminent nuclear deal will ignite a war to acquire arms and possibly nuclear weapons. This will not bode well for the region. Amber Haq Jeddah
