Now Available Czech Republic Freight Transport Report Q3 2015

(MENAFNEditorial)

Czech Republic's freight transport sector will continue growth in 2015 in line with the country's improving economic outlook . We forecast strong real GDP growth of 3.1% in 2015 which will be powered by an improving consumer outlook. This will encourage domestic freight tonnage- especially road haulage- over the year. Road freight is to continue to dominate the sector and is projected to grow by 2.8% in 2015.

We forecast total trade to grow strongly in the Czech Republic in 2015 and over the next several years. This is due to improving domestic and regional dynamics particularly in Germany. BMI has recently revised up its forecast for German GDP growth in 2015 and 2016. As the country is Czech Republic's largest trade partner- making up for around a third of total trade- an improving economic picture is particularly favourable for Czech freight.

Road freight growth will be powered by the improving consumer story over the coming years. Strong private final consumption growth and a better investment climate in the Czech Republic will drive sales of the formal packaged food sector as well as items such as electronics. However we note that while the density of the country's road network is strong by regional standards its quality is poor and motorway tolls and taxes hamper potential growth. This will lead to rail freight growth outperforming that of road freight towards the end of our forecast period.

Greater regional growth will lead to greater trade of the Czech Republic's traditional exports- namely heavy machinery such as automobiles and raw materials. Furthermore the country's geographically strategic position in Central Europe and the EU-wide drive to decrease Europe's reliance on road freight will lead to greater investment into the...
