TCA Abu Dhabi to host Media Iftars across the Arabian Gulf

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority, TCA Abu Dhabi, is organising media Iftars in six cities across the Arabian Gulf during the Holy Month of Ramadan to raise the profile of the recently launched Abu Dhabi Summer Season, 2015.

Starting on 21st June, Iftar banquets will be held successively in Jeddah, Riyadh and Al Khobar in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, followed by Kuwait City, Qatar's capital Doha and finally Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman.

"Our valued GCC guests choose the emirate for its world-class tourist attractions and unique natural landscape that combines charming waterfronts, magical deserts and lush, green oases. Our exciting Abu Dhabi Summer Season programme promises our Gulf visitors family entertainment in a traditional atmosphere, and the overlap of the Holy Month of Ramadan with our Summer Season offers makes Abu Dhabi even more special," said Sultan Al Mansouri, KSA Country Manager, TCA Abu Dhabi, with responsibility for the GCC.

For the first four months of 2015, Saudi Arabia has been Abu Dhabi's largest GCC source market with 46,576 visitors, a solid increase of 46% over last year, followed by Oman with 21,342 visitors marking 12% growth over the same period. Qatar accounted for 9,793 visitors, with 9,776 Kuwaiti's over the same period.

"The Ramadan Iftars will be a great opportunity for us to meet our GCC media partners and introduce the details of the Abu Dhabi Summer Season programme, while highlighting the benefits of choosing Abu Dhabi for a family vacation or organising a business trip to the emirate, which, through the efforts of our Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau, has become a notable regional centre for attracting the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions, or MICE, tourism," added Al Mansouri.

The three-month Abu Dhabi Summer Season is expected to attract a growing number of GCC tourists thanks to the wide array of Ramadan-inspired activities, followed by interactive entertainment activities held across Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain and the Western Region.

Promising 'Fun for All', the highly anticipated Summer Season will host more than 60 performances in venues and theatres across Abu Dhabi Emirate arranged by some of the UAE's leading event companies. The series of live shows begin on July 18th with an Eid celebration in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, followed by theatrical performances for children, illusionists, and a range of other leading shows for adults and children. Abu Dhabi hotels and shopping malls will feature super promotional offers throughout, including a raffle draw across 12 of the emirate's malls to win a Mercedes Benz every Saturday evening.

Al Mansouri pointed out that media in the Gulf has had keen interest in the major cultural projects the capital is preparing to launch in the Saadiyat Cultural District, such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.

"The pre-opening exhibitions regularly held at Manarat Al Saadiyat have been a consistent point of interest for media outlets across the GCC in advance of the official opening of these international museums. We expect the Louvre Abu Dhabi Stories exhibition, running from 21st June € 30th August, to also be a media favourite as it stems from TCA Abu Dhabi's cultural vision to promote the emirate's culture and tourism position," said Al Mansouri.

The Ramadan tour would reinforce bilateral relations between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, especially in the areas of business and conventions, according to Mubarak Al Shamsi, Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau Director.

"Abu Dhabi offers a favourable atmosphere and unique advantages to organise specialised conferences and exhibitions, illustrated by the Bureau's wide range of free consultation and advisory services. We bring to the table a coordinated, competent, highly experienced team of partners to facilitate business event organisation, and through this collaborative approach, can match GCC investors with a flexible, dynamic and investment-enabling local market," added Al Shamsi.

Abu Dhabi CB has revitalised the emirate's business, specialised exhibitions and incentives tourism sector which has seen remarkable growth over the past five years. More than 24 major international conferences and business meetings were held in Abu Dhabi in 2014, with some events hosting in excess of 5,000 delegates.
