Eurozone draws up Greek emergency plan

(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Athens' eurozone partners are drawing up an emergency plan to head off the threat of economic chaos in Greece if the nation fails to reach a deal with its creditors this week, German media
reported Tuesday, according to dpa.

The plan includes the imposition at the weekend of capital controls
to halt a possible run on Greek banks, according to the daily
Sueddeutsche Zeitung.

The Eurogroup of finance ministers are due to meet Thursday to take
stock of the long-running and increasingly fraught negotiations
between Greece and its creditors - the European Commission, the
European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

If the Eurogroup fails to reach an agreement with Athens for a deal
to unlock 7.2 billion euros (8.1 billion dollars) in bailout funds in
exchange for a tough set of reforms, then the issue is likely to be
taken up at a summit of European Union leaders on June 25-26.
