Sudanese Pres. returns home, despite court order


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Sudanese President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir returned back home Monday despite a South African court order banning him from leaving the country, where he was visiting to partake in the African Union Summit.

Commenting on his arrival, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour said in a press conference that President Bashir's participation in the 25th African Union Summit would had gone smoothly, if there have been no attempts from "Africa enemies" to disrupt his visit.

He, however, assured that the situation has ended in favor of Africa and Al-Bashir.

Ghandour unveiled that the South African government has warmly welcomed the Sudanese President and informed him that the opposition parties were behind the court order banning him from leaving the country.

South African officials have told Sudanese counterparts that the opposition tried to embrace the government by this move, he stated.

He vowed that Sudan would take firm action against any country or entity that calls for the arrest of President Al-Bashir.

On Sunday, a local court ordered the temporary ban on Al-Bashir leaving of the country till it decide whether to arrest him or not upon an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court over his alleged involvement in war crimes.
