Gunmen kill guardsman, wound four others NW Tunisia


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) A member of the Tunisian National Guard was killed and four others were injured in clashes on Monday when unknown militants attacked a security patrol and a station in northwestern El-Mella area.

The four wounded guardsmen suffer bullet injuries of varying degrees, the state news agency TAP reported, citing Spokesman of the Interior Ministry Mohamed Ali Larou, who explained the attack took place in the Ghardimaou district, in the northwestern province of Jendouba near the borders with Algeria.

The military and National Guard units, backed by helicopters, have been combing the area in pursuit of the assailants since the first attack on the border post this midday, the spokesman added.

Earlier in the day three guardsmen and a militant were killed and 11 others, including civilians, were wounded in a similar terrorist attacks in Bir Lahfay neighbourhood and the town of Sidi Ali Ben Aoun, in central Tunisia.

One of the attackers was captured after being seriously injured.
